How Do Furendly Care Credits Work?
Furendly is built around a simple idea: help care for someone else’s dog when you can, and receive help with your own dog when you need it.
Instead of paying another member for every dog-sitting arrangement, Furendly members use Care Credits.
Here is how they work.
What Are Care Credits?
Care Credits are Furendly’s way of keeping dog care fair within the community.
When you host another member’s dog, you earn Care Credits.
When another member hosts your dog, you use Care Credits.
In simple terms:
Host a dog → Earn Care Credits
Get care for your dog → Use Care Credits
Care Credits are used only within the Furendly community. They are not cash and cannot be exchanged for money.
How Much Is One Care Credit?
At Furendly:
1 Care Credit = up to 4 hours of care
A full day of care can use up to:
2 Care Credits per day
This keeps the system simple while still allowing members to arrange everything from a few hours of care to multi-day stays.

A Short Visit
Your dog stays with another Furendly member for up to 4 hours.
Care Credits used: 1
The host earns 1 Care Credit.
A Full Day
Your dog stays with a host for most of the day.
Care Credits used: 2
The host earns 2 Care Credits.
A Weekend Stay
Your dog stays with another member for two full days.
Care Credits used: 4
The host earns 4 Care Credits.
A Three-Day Stay
Your dog stays with a Furendly host for three full days.
Care Credits used: 6
The host earns 6 Care Credits.
How Do I Earn Care Credits?
The main way to earn Care Credits is by hosting dogs in the Furendly community.
For example, if you host another member’s dog for a weekend and earn 4 Care Credits, those credits are added to your account after the care arrangement is completed.
You can then save them and use them later when you need someone to care for your own dog.
There is no requirement to use the credits immediately.
This means you can host dogs when your schedule allows and build up Care Credits for future vacations, weekends away or busy days.
How Do I Use Care Credits?
When you need dog care, browse available Hosts on Furendly.
Once you find someone who may be a good match, you can connect with them and arrange the care through Furendly.
The number of Care Credits required for the arrangement will be shown as part of the booking.
After the care is completed, the appropriate Care Credits move from the dog parent to the host.
Do I Have to Host Before I Can Get Dog Care?
You need enough Care Credits in your account to complete a care arrangement.
One of the best ways to build your balance is to host dogs before you need care yourself.
For example, if you know you have a vacation coming up in a few months, you could host a few dogs beforehand and build up the Care Credits you may need for your trip.
This is one of the reasons Furendly works well even when you do not currently need dog care.
Can I Choose Which Dogs I Host?
Yes.
Hosting through Furendly does not mean you have to accept every dog.
You can review a dog’s profile, personality, size, behaviour notes and care needs before deciding whether you would like to connect with their owner.
You should only host dogs you feel comfortable caring for and that are a good fit for your home and lifestyle.
What If I Have a Dog but Also Want to Host?
That is exactly how Furendly is designed to work.
You can be both a dog parent and a host.
For example:
You host someone’s dog this month and earn 4 Care Credits.
A few months later, you go away for a weekend and use those 4 Care Credits for your own dog’s care.
The system allows members to give and receive help at different times.
What If I Don’t Have a Dog?
You can still participate in Furendly as a host.
Some people love dogs but may not currently have one of their own.
Hosting can be a way to spend time with dogs, help people in your community and earn Care Credits if you decide to have a dog in the future.
Do Care Credits Have Cash Value?
No.
Care Credits are not money and cannot be withdrawn, redeemed for cash or transferred outside the Furendly system.
They exist only to help members exchange dog care within the Furendly community.

Traditional dog care usually works as a transaction: you need someone to watch your dog, so you pay them.
